List cleaning (email Opt-in) vs. Buy a new list

This is the time old question, should I invest in purchasing a new list or cleaning my existing list. This really depends on two things:

  1. How old and specialised your existing list is? If your existing list has been developed internally with niche target contacts it might be worth to use it as a basis for cleaning. If the list is older than 24months and has not been used for any marketing purposes, chances are that it is redundant and needs cleaning.
  2.  

  3. Are you targeting greenfield (new) prospects? If you are in search of new prospects lists, then purchasing a new list is your answer.
